My Name Became A Spyware/Trojan

Hello there,
I am test driving your product and like it very much. I have a situation that I just don't know what to do about. I am a writer. Just over two and a half years ago I chose the name Alureon as part of a book title. I reserved the domain name and I paid extra to have it kept out of public records. I did grab the email address at sbcglobal where we have our DSL account - as a sub account. It was a made up name so far as I could tell. Then, about three weeks ago I was looking something up on-line and bada-bing - there it was - some brain trust had used alureon as the name of his/her rebellious thesis. It is apparently a fairly bad spyware, trojan and I am not sure what else.  Help. The word Alureon is legitimatly all over my computer. I am not sure what to do. I would like to physically throttle who ever did this but I will settle for some realistic suggestions.
BTW being a writer in no way confers the ability to spell on me. I am so sorry.
Thanks
Marilynashamed

Hi Marilyn,

I'm not sure I can help you with that one. On the bright side, anti-virus signatures don't rely much on the name of something but rather an entire digital signature. So while a human might find the two confusing, it's less likely that an anti-virus program will be as confused.

thanks,

-Allen

Hi Allen,

Actually, that does help. I realize that my use of the name is done and this is just something I will have to now undo and rethink.  My concern, being a non-techie, was that any deep scan program I might run could well just decide to toss my hard drive on the scrap heap rather than deal with the largish number of times the offending word would appear.

I liked your explanation. It was understandable and didn't make me want to drink.

But, I still want to string someone up by their bits.

Thanks
Marilyn
